# How do I prevent students from seeing numerical scores in Canvas Gradebook?

In your course's Settings, activate the following settings:

1. Restrict view of quantitative data.
2. Enable course grading scheme.

> Canvas will not let you restrict view of quantitative data without creating/adding a course grading scheme.

Review our [Canvas Gradebook Instructions](https://canvas.gse.harvard.edu/sites/g/files/omnuum3251/files/2026-10/Canvas_Gradebook_Instructions.pdf) for more detailed instructions, including how to:

- Create/edit grading schemes
- Test that students only see letter grades
